Taiwan’s “Occupational Safety and Health Act” was officially
implemented starting in 2014, and to make sure that relevant
personnel could efficiently grasp the changes in regulations, impacts,
and influences, CTCI sent staff to participate in seminars or training
sessions pertaining to changes in the Workplace Safety Policy held by
government institutions. HSE Management Department has hosted a
series of activities in 2014-2015, and arranged for internal and external
experts and scholars in these perspectives to host training sessions
or onsite lectures so that our employees could further understand the
morals and key points of the revisions in the “Occupational Safety and
Health Act”. This will help in coming up with responses and strategies to
help us achieve the responsibility of ensuring worker's safety and health
and to comply with the law.
As a leading global EPC Company in Taiwan, we have sought for
new breakthroughs in management techniques and tools through
new technologies in recent years. To enhance the effectiveness of
the Company's safety, health, and environmental information and to
strengthen the working of safety, health, and environmental system
in projects, we have established “HSE Comprehensive Performance
Management System” through making use of information technology.
Management information is effectively relayed to offer instant, efficient,
and effective info for the onsite supervisors, safety, health, and
environmental protection personnel and management to enhance the
effectiveness of onsite safety, health, and environmental protection.
This management system is also provided in English version to offer
more comprehensive environmental assurance service for international
projects.

Occupational Safety and Injury Prevention
To decrease the occurrence of occupational
hazards, all relevant personnel need to receive
educational training for work-related hazard
prevention, according to regulations from
local government, prior to being stationed at a
project site. Hazard Prevention and Regulation
Committee woul draw up countermeasures
based on comprehensive information including
international standards, local regulations, project
contracts, and results from risk assessment. For
instance, according to “Regulations for Labor
Safety and Health Education and Training” in
Taiwan indicates that different training is needed
for personnel with different roles. In which
"general safety and health educational training"
is an educational training for "new recruits or
prior to workers' job changes" and the number
of hours required will be arranged according
to needs and cannot be less than three hours.
But for those who conduct operational or
manufacturing work, work in deoxygenated areas,
or soldering, including operating manufacturing
machinery or equipment, vehicle construction
machines, machinery that operate in heights or
hoisters, need to undertake an extra 3 hours
each. And for those involved in manufacturing,
handling, or using toxic chemical products, should
also undertake an extra 3 hours, and need to
receive on-the-job safety and health educational
training on an annual basis. Employees in CTCI
HQ Building also need to receive routine safety,
health, and environmental protection training
according to the law, including employee fire
drill, new employee training, standard on-the-job
safety and health training, and first-aid training
and high risk emergency training for high-risk
works.
