Construction site hazard control measures
Item
Measures and purpose
Hazards identification,
assessment and control
● Ensure that the environmental aspects considerations and safety and health hazards of operations, products or
service are identified, assessed, and appropriately controlled.
● Establish operation controls, emergency responses, or implement trainings to environmental impacts or safety
and health risks to employees, stakeholders, workplace, and the environment.
Safety and Health Operation
Standards
● According to the results of risk assessments, establish Safety and Health Operation Standards of high-risk works
for workers to follow, which including (but not limited to) piles, excavating, temporary electrical equipment, using
fire, grinding, hoisting, elevated work, scaffolding, radioactive work, confined space, emergency responses and
personal protective equipment.
● Before starting works, notice potential hazards, conduct trainings, check personal protective equipment and
ensure all workers have proper safety knowledge and ability.
Working environment
monitoring
● For job sites that have permissible exposure limits (e.g. indoor job sites where central air conditioning is
available, and job sites emitting extreme noise), in order to ensure that employees' hazard exposure is under
the permissible level and to understand the actual operation conditions, we implement working environment,
including plans, samplings, measurements, analyses, and assessments.
● Results will be posted in a location that is easy for workers to see, or publicly disclosed in another manner. We
also strictly require staff to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g. ear plugs, ear muffs).
Management of machinery
and equipment
● Use machinery and equipment that complies with SHE regulations, and have passed relevant inspections .
● Implement machinery and equipment self-inspections, including regular inspection , key point inspection and
checklist.
Hazardous chemicals
management
● Label, make inventories, and display safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals, and adopt necessary hazard
communication measures.
● Request the manufacturers, importers, or suppliers of hazardous chemicals label them and provide safety data
sheets
● Assess the degrees of risks the chemicals pose based on hazards to health, distribution, quantity of use and
other conditions, and adopt management measures according to risk ranking.
Radioactive work control
● Radioactive work plan have to be reviewed and preapproved.
● Unless in special circumstances, it should be undertaken at night, and the site should be cleared of all other
personnel.
● Check the job-site environment with relevant units prior to undertaking this task.
● Prior to the work, warning and protective measures should be taken in the operation area and controlled area,
and to take caution of whether there are personnel nearby. Radioactive monitoring should also be conducted.
Noise prevention
● Noises from construction sites may come from the operations of construction machinery such as site
preparation, pile driving, excavating, filling, demolition, assembly and adjustment of pipelines, operations of
power supply machine, and the commissioning of equipment.
● Implement working environment monitoring, and ear plugs or ear muffs should be worn at job sites exceeding
permissible level of noise.
● Appropriately consider the hours of continuous exposure to noise.
